The extensive use of Lithium-ion batteries in teaching and research introduces a range of potential hazards that need to be managed. Incorrect sourcing, charging and storage practices can lead to overheating, fires, and in some cases toxic gas production. This safety briefing will explain the potential risks of work with Lithium-ion batteries and cover practical measures that can be put in place to reduce the risk.
